Commitment

Tabcorp and its venue partners in the Tabaret network share an ongoing commitment to responsible gambling and the highest levels of customer care. The Tabaret Responsible Gaming Strategy and associated initiatives are based upon a social health framework of informed choice, incorporating primary prevention, secondary protection and safety net measures (rehabilitation). Responsible Gambling Code of Practice

The Gambling Regulation Act 2003 makes it compulsory for certain organisations that hold gambling industry licences to have a Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct. On 17 March 2009, the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR) approved a Tabcorp/Tatts developed Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct (the Code) which can be adopted by individual venues. This Code has been endorsed by AHA and adopted by many Tabaret venues. The Tabaret venues that have adopted the Code demonstrate commitment to the Code through:

1. Information Provision
Ensuring that accurate, meaningful information about gambling products in Tabaret venues is available to allow our customers to make informed decisions about their participation in gambling;
2. Customer Care
Maintaining the highest standards of customer care in all Tabaret venues;
3. Support Services Information Provision
Requiring all Tabaret venues to have information about problem gambling support services and the Industry Voluntary Self-exclusion Program; and
4. Stakeholder Relationships
Developing and maintaining close linkages and consultation channels between Tabaret venues and local government, problem gambling services and community organisations.

Tabaret Responsible Gambling Initiatives

In addition to the Code, other initiatives promote responsible gambling and strong customer care across the Tabaret network:

1. Tabaret Responsible Gambling Venue of the Year Award
This prestigious award recognises Tabaret venues' efforts in promoting responsible gambling and customer care. The award recognises how venues link their business to local community organisations and local government.

2. Champions of Tabaret Award
Every month Tabaret venue managers nominate staff that have demonstrated exceptional customer care, customer service or teamwork practices for the monthly Champions of Tabaret Award. From the monthly winners, an annual winner is selected.

3. Customer Care Messages
A series of customer care messages for Tabaret venue staff has been developed in conjunction with Gambler's Help services for inclusion in communications with the Tabaret network. These messages serve as regular reminders for venue staff on various aspects of responsible gambling and customer care.

4. Responsible Gambling Awareness Week
In the past, Tabaret venues across Victoria have participated in annual Victorian Responsible Gambling Awareness (RGAW) Weeks. RGAW week will occur 25 - 29 May in 2009. Venues have displayed responsible gambling "hot tips" in a range of ways and answered questions from customers pertaining to the week and to responsible gambling more generally.
